Seminal Vesicle Leiomyoma Mimicking Extra-prostatic Extension of Prostatic Adenocarcinoma

چکیده
Leiomyomas are common smooth muscle neoplasms; however, leiomyomas of the seminal vesicles are extremely rare. We report a case of seminal vesicle leiomyoma in a 55-year-old African American male who underwent robot assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy (RALP) for Gleason 8 (4 + 4) adenocarcinoma. An incidental nodule arising from the left seminal vesicle was discovered during surgery, complicating the surgical dissection and suggesting extra-prostatic extension. The histologic findings in this case raised the possibility that this seminal vesicle leiomyoma may have arisen from a remnant of the mid-portion of the Müllerian duct; however, a thorough immunohistochemical (IHC) workup disproved this theory.

Localized amyloidosis of seminal vesicle and vas deferens: report of two cases.
We reported localized amyloidosis involving seminal vesicles and vasa deferentia, which was found in two patients with prostatic adenocarcinoma. A 60-yr-old (Case 1) and a 59-yr-old (Case 2) man came to our hospital with elevation of serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) and biopsy proven carcinoma, respectively. MRI revealed multiple irregular foci of low signal intensity in the prostates as w...
متن کاملProstate cancer arising in ectopic prostatic tissue within the left seminal vesicle: a rare case diagnosed with multi-parametric magnetic resonance imaging and magnetic resonance imaging-transrectal ultrasound fusion biopsy
BACKGROUND Benign ectopia of prostatic glandular tissue in the seminal vesicles is rare with only three prior cases reported in the literature. Prostate cancer, arising within prostatic ectopia in the seminal vesicles, has never been described and therefore presents a challenge in both diagnosis and management. CASE PRESENTATION Herein, we report a rare case of prostatic adenocarcinoma in ect...
متن کاملEndothelin-1 expression in prostate needle biopsy specimens correlated with aggressiveness of prostatic cancer
Background & Objective: As the prostate adenocarcinoma is one of the most common malignant tumors in males, looking for a marker to effectively predict aggressiveness and metastatic potential in an apparently localized cancer in initial needle biopsy specimens can help the clinicians to make more appropriate decision for treatment, planning, and choosing appropriate ta...
متن کاملExtra-Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor of Prostate
BACKGROUND Extra-gastrointestinal stromal tumor is defined as a mesenchymal neoplasm arising from soft tissues outside the gastrointestinal tract. Prostatic extra-gastrointestinal stromal tumor has rarely been noted. CASE REPORT A 56 year-old man presented with pain in the anal region. A digital rectal examination revealed that the prostate was markedly enlarged with a smooth, bulging surface...
متن کاملA Large Posteriorly Located Prostatic Mass Lesion Challenging the Robotic Surgeon: Prostate Leiomyoma
Background: Prostatic leiomyoma is a benign and rare condition of the prostate. Robotic surgery is increasingly being applied in the surgical management of prostate cancer. Case Presentation: Herein, a mass lesion that was located in the posterior part of the prostate between seminal vesicles that was identified during robotic surgery is presented. This lesion further challenged the console sur...
